Apart from the existing biofuel installation Electrawinds started the construction of a bio steam power plant. In this plant high-calorific residual fractions (solid biomass products) will be combusted so as to produce steam. The generated steam will drive a steam turbine, which in turn generates electricity (renewable energy). The plant will produce 19MW of electricity. The remaining thermal energy will furthermore be supplied to 50 to 60 ha of greenhouses in the form of hot water. The green power plant will be operational in the summer of 2009.
